Hot new trend in China….the panda chow chow. These are white chow chows that are dyed to get the signature black markings to resemble a panda bear.
They are not a hybrid or some crazy genetic experiment….just a patient dog and some puppy safe fur dye.
Many people are angry at this new trend and calling it inhumane. The dog dye is perfectly safe (it doesn’t hurt, there are no fumes and it is not permanent) and China wasn’t the first ones to trend set crazy dye jobs. Check out the poodle competitions they do every year (seriously…just google “poodle competitions” ) and that has been going on far longer than this panda chow thing.
The only thing that concerns me is that with any dog related trends you get people getting dogs that do not fit their lifestyle and home. That’s how dogs end up at shelters….when people get dogs they can’t handle because they did not do their research on the breed. Chow chows are not for everyone, they need experienced owners.
